Aave governance proposes onboarding USAT, Anchorage-issued OCC-supervised stablecoin

Aave Governance Forum · Oct 9, 2026 12:13 PM EDT

An Aave governance proposal seeks to onboard USAT, a dollar stablecoin issued by Anchorage Digital Bank, N.A., a federally chartered national trust bank supervised by the OCC and subject to the GENIUS Act. USAT is redeemable 1:1 for U.S. dollars and represents one of the first bank-issued, federally regulated stablecoins proposed for integration into a major DeFi lending protocol. Final LTV and risk parameters will be set by Aave's risk service providers.

For Armada's crypto repo desk, USAT's potential listing on Aave V3 and V4 is significant: it establishes a DeFi benchmark for federally supervised stablecoin collateral, which Armada could reference in its own collateral eligibility policy. If Armada is considering tokenized T-Bill or stablecoin collateral, USAT's OCC-regulated status may make it more defensible to institutional counterparties and regulators than USDT or USDC equivalents.

Suggested action Assess USAT collateral eligibility for Armada crypto repo and monitor Aave V3/V4 risk parameters once set by risk providers.
