Nasdaq Ventures announced a $100 million equity investment in Payward, the parent company of crypto exchange Kraken, on September 10. The deal is part of a broader partnership centered on the Nasdaq Equity Token platform, which aims to bring tokenized versions of exchange-listed stocks to institutional and retail markets using Kraken's infrastructure and distribution.
For Armada's crypto repo desk, this accelerates the timeline for tokenized equities becoming a credible collateral class in repo markets. Family office and market maker clients who already hold BTC, ETH, or SOL as repo collateral may soon seek to pledge tokenized Nasdaq-listed shares. Armada needs to pre-position on collateral policy, LTV frameworks, and whether Fireblocks custody arrangements can accommodate tokenized equity instruments before inbound client requests force a reactive decision.
