US July CPI Rises 0.1%, Weak Jobs Data Bolster Case for Fed Rate Hold

US consumer prices rose just 0.1% in July, the softest monthly print in recent months, while a weak July jobs report added further evidence that the economy is cooling. The combined data largely eliminate the case for near-term Fed rate cuts, with consensus shifting toward a prolonged hold at current policy rates.

For Armada's traditional repo desk, a sustained Fed hold keeps SOFR anchored at elevated levels, maintaining the cost of repo financing for hedge fund and asset manager counterparties. Monitoring counterparty stress under a higher-for-longer scenario remains prudent.

Suggested action Refresh SOFR forward projections in repo pricing models and communicate rate hold scenario implications to traditional repo counterparties.
