Binance argues MiCA credibility rests on quality of licensees, not exclusions

CoinDesk · Jul 3, 2026 2:30 AM EDT

Binance has publicly argued that the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets regulation should be assessed by the caliber of firms it licenses rather than by which firms it excludes. The statement comes as Binance continues to navigate its own MiCA licensing process and positions itself as a constructive participant in EU regulatory dialogue. The framing is partly a response to criticism that MiCA's requirements have led to market fragmentation.

For Armada's crypto desk, the MiCA landscape determines which European-based counterparties such as market makers and institutional crypto firms will be operating under a recognized regulatory framework. If Binance secures a MiCA license, it becomes a potentially eligible institutional counterparty for European-nexus transactions. Armada does not currently operate in Europe but its counterparty due-diligence framework should track MiCA-licensed entities as that list develops.

Suggested action Awareness only; monitor Binance MiCA licensing outcome for implications on European counterparty eligibility.
